HomeschoolED Heroes: Empowering BIPOC Families Through Connection and Excellence
In an exciting development for the BIPOC homeschooling community, the much-anticipated HomeschoolED Heroes website has officially launched. This platform, powered by Taevo Publishing, is more than a digital space—it’s a dynamic resource hub aimed at empowering Black and Brown homeschool parents by providing the tools, support, and inspiration they need to thrive.
Behind HomeschoolED Heroes is a woman who knows firsthand the joys and challenges of homeschooling: Tamara Mayo, founder, CEO of Taevo Publishing, and mother of two. As a homeschooling parent to a spirited 6-year-old daughter and a curious 10-year-old son, Tamara has lived the experience of creating an enriching educational environment at home. But her journey hasn’t been without its hurdles.
A Mission Born from Experience
When Tamara first made the decision to homeschool her children, she was overwhelmed. Where would she start? What resources were available? How could she ensure her kids received a well-rounded education? She quickly discovered that while homeschooling offered freedom, it also required a wealth of knowledge and support that wasn’t readily accessible.
What Tamara found most valuable were hubs that connected Black homeschooling families. These organizations didn’t just offer resources—they created a sense of belonging. For Tamara, they were a lifeline, providing not only educational tools but also emotional support and a community that shared her values and aspirations.
Inspired by these experiences, Tamara envisioned HomeschoolED Heroes as a way to give back to the community that had lifted her. “We’re not just providing resources,” she says. “We’re building a network that uplifts BIPOC homeschooling families, celebrates their achievements, and gives them the tools they need to succeed.”

Tamara and her team carefully vet every resource, event, and partnership to ensure they meet the highest standards. “We’re not just about quantity,” Tamara explains. “We’re about quality. If it’s not good enough for our kids, it’s not good enough for the community.”
This dedication extends to fostering connections within the Black homeschooling community. By building bridges between families and organizations, HomeschoolED Heroes helps parents access programs tailored to their children’s unique needs, whether they’re looking for STEM-focused classes, arts enrichment, or support for neurodivergent learners.

Through blog posts, social media, and videos, Tamara and her team document their journey, offering tips and insights that resonate with parents navigating similar challenges. From managing schedules to balancing work and homeschooling, their transparency creates a sense of camaraderie and trust.
Why HomeschoolED Heroes Matters
For many BIPOC families, homeschooling is more than an educational choice—it’s a way to ensure that their children’s needs, identities, and potential are fully recognized and nurtured. HomeschoolED Heroes exists to make that journey more accessible, equitable, and rewarding.
Tamara reflects on the importance of community: “Homeschooling can feel isolating, especially when you’re part of a marginalized group. HomeschoolED Heroes is here to remind families that they’re not alone. Together, we can create a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
