HomeschoolED Heroes is excited to officially launch L.I.L. Readers — our free monthly literacy co-op designed to help homeschool learners fall in love with reading through imagination, movement, sensory play, and community connection.
Our first three sessions will be hosted at the ForKids Center in Chesapeake, VA. For each session, L.I.L. Readers blends reading comprehension with creativity, social–emotional learning, and hands-on activities that make literacy feel like play, not pressure.
Whether your child thrives with sensory support, prefers small-group learning, or just loves stories, this program gives them a safe and joyful community to grow in.
📚 What Is L.I.L. Readers?
L.I.L. Readers stands for Leaders in Literacy — because every child can become a confident, enthusiastic reader that spreads the joy of reading when given the right tools, environment, and encouragement.
Each monthly session centers on a theme inspired by the world around us:
October: Changing Seasons
November: Gratitude & Stories
December: Light in the Dark
Activities include:
✨ Read-alouds
✨ Vocabulary-building games
✨ Role play + dramatization
✨ Picture sequencing
✨ Take-home worksheets
✨ Sensory-friendly stations for special needs learners
✨ Creative writing for older students
We don’t just teach reading — we nurture confidence, curiosity, and joy.
👦🏽👧🏻 Two Learning Blocks for Two Age Groups
To keep the environment supportive and tailored, we offer two age-based learning blocks:
🧩 Block 1: Special Needs Learners
9:15–10:30 a.m. (drop-off 9:00–9:15)
A sensory-friendly literacy block designed for autistic learners and others who benefit from gentle pacing, movement, and visual supports.
✏️ Block 2: Ages 9–12
10:45–12:00 (drop-off 10:40–10:45)
A creative reading + writing block for older homeschoolers who enjoy deeper stories, vocabulary exploration, and storytelling through comics, reflection sheets, and group activities.

assisting learners with worksheets
running literacy games
offering encouragement + positivity
You do not need teaching experience — just patience, warmth, and a love for kids and books.
